Ile d' Orleans

Strawberries

$12.00per item
From a small island in the St. Lawrence River just outside Québec City comes one of the most celebrated strawberries in North America. Known as the "Garden of Québec," Île d'Orléans has fed the region for centuries, and its berries are the jewel of that tradition.
What makes them special is the island itself. The unique island climate—surrounded by cool river waters and warm, humid summers—coaxes out fruit that's extra sweet, with deep color and true strawberry perfume. Island growers have even bred their own cultivars over generations, prized for firm, richly flavored berries packed with antioxidants and grown nowhere else.
The season is long but fleeting in feel: picking runs from late June through early fall, with the sweetest berries often arriving as the season turns. Hand-harvested at peak ripeness and a world apart from anything shipped cross-country.
